Moving forward

It is with great pride and support that I am able to let everyone know that Kenny & I know where the next phase of our life is taking us and are beginning to see our path laid out before us...

KENNY HAS BEEN ACCEPTED TO SOUTH UNIVERSITY PHARMACY SCHOOL IN SAVANNAH, GA!!!!

Kenny found out today, a mere 5 days after interviewing, that's been offered a spot in their class to begin in June. South University offers a fast paced, accelerated, 3 year pharmacy school program. Most schools programs are 4 years long. At the end of these 3 years he will be a Doctor of Pharmacy. A dream he has had longer than I've known him. I couldn't be prouder. Not proud only because he's achieving his goal, but for the odds he's overcome.

Kenny applied last year to M.D. & D.O. schools to begin this past August, but it did not work out as he'd hoped. While he was discouraged, I encouraged him to press forward and not give up and keep an open mind. It's funny how God doesn't open the doors we hope for because He has another door for us to talk through. Kenny began the application process for D.O. and Pharmacy schools again this year hoping to achieve his dream. South University is a small private pharmacy school whose receives 100's - 1000's of applications each year and accepts around 80 students total for each new entering class, which is around 15%. My husband was one of those few. That is why I am proud - he overcame discouragement and hardship to be accepted into a fanastically difficult school. God has a plan in store for Kenny and so we now can see the path that was planned for us.

Savannah here we come!! WOOHOO!!

The week ahead

Who knew that this past October when I visited Savannah for the "first" time that Kenny & I could be potentially moving there? (I say first because apparently I'd been there before according to Mom)

We're hoping that come June we'll be moving to Savannah! Kenny has his first (yes, first of two) interview for pharmacy school on Friday. This interview is for South University in Savannah. The week (or shall I say weekend) ahead is full!:

THURSDAY: We will leave Carrollton immediately after work and make the drive to Savannah. FRIDAY: We will spend time after his interview scoping out the Savannah area and drive back home to Carrollton that night
SATURDAY: We'll wake up bright and early and drive to Atlanta for Kenny to take the PCAT for pharmacy school. Immediately once the test is over, we'll head up to Cleveland, TN for one my best friend's weddings Saturday night. We'll have a little bit of time to visit Saturday night and Sunday with Mom before heading back home to Carrollton.
SUNDAY: Drive (again) back to Carrollton

WHEW! I get tired just thinking about it :) But, if all this traveling this weekend (to Savannah especially) brings Kenny his dream of working in the medical field, then it's all worth it!

Kenny also has another interview schedule in February with Wingate University in Wingate, NC if he hasn't yet heard back from South!

We're crossing our fingers and praying hard!

Happy 2010!

Well, it's back to work and back to reality in 2010.

Kenny & I began our Christmas break by heading down to Orlando for five days. We got to see a different side of Orlando than the typical Disney vacation we've done before. We met up with our friends, Steve & Renee, from our honeymoon. They showed us down I-Drive and through City Walk at Universal. But, who can be in Orlando and not see Disney World? Kenny & I sure can't!! So, we broke down and headed to Magic Kingdom for a day :)

While we were in Orlando, Kenny got a FANTASTIC early Christmas present! South University in Savannah, GA invited him to their interview day for their Pharmacy program!!! Kenny will be interviewing on January 22nd for a seat to begin in June 2010!

The rest of our break was spent traveling to see our families. We spent about 2 days in Peachtree City and then headed to Chattanooga the day after Christmas. Although Kenny had to come back the next day to head back to work, I got to spend 3 more days up there before heading back to Carrollton.

Kenny & I rang in the New Year by relaxing by the fire with The Hangover and Dick Clark's NYRE!

Happy New Year 2010 to all -may it bring health and happiness to everyone!
